Roofing in Merritt: what to plan for
Built for fire season
The Thompson is dry country with long fire seasons, and plenty of homes back onto grassland or forest. Class A is available on our roofs as a complete assembly (two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, per ASTM E108), and aluminum does not ignite.
Hot summers, hard sun
Kamloops summers are among the hottest in BC. Interlock's Alunar® colours are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council, and the manufacturer's coating warranty spells out the fade and chalk limits.
Cold snaps and snow
Winters bring cold snaps and snow on the higher ground. A metal roof sheds snow, so snow guards over entries, decks and driveways go in at the estimate, and the light panels leave the framing's capacity for the snow itself.
Locked on four sides
Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides with the fasteners concealed. Wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.
